* CHEER COMPETITION WILL BE HELD AT HAVELOCK HIGH SCHOOL, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26TH AT 2PM.

Newport Pop Warner offers a great experience for youth who want to cheer for a team and also participate in exhibitions or competitions. Newport Pop Warner has cheerleading squads for youth ages 4 to 15. The age is the participant's age on July 31 of this calendar year. We have cheerleaders for the flag teams (ages 4-7) and cheerleaders for the tackle teams (ages 5-15). There are no tryouts. Participants are placed on squads on a first-come, first-served basis as space permits.

Each cheerleading squad is assigned to a football team and accompanies them to all home and away games, including post-season play at invitational bowls and regional/national competitions. The cheerleaders cheer during the games and also perform at halftime.

*A childs age on July 31st is his/her age for the season. For Flag Cheerleading, all 4 year olds must be 4 years old on or before January 1st, 2007.

Competitions:
The Eastern NC Pop Warner Football Conference (ENCPWYFC) cheerleading competition (Junior Pee Wee and above) is usually held on a Sunday in mid-October. Winning teams advance to Mid-South regional competition to vie for an opportunity to go to the national competition at Disney World. National competition is usually during the first or second week of December in Orlando.

Uniforms
Uniforms are provided to cheerleaders. Cheerleaders are responsible for paying for their shoes and briefs, per Newport Pop Warner specifications. Cheerleaders are fitted for uniforms at registration and uniforms are distributed during practice before the first regular-season game. All uniforms must be cleaned and returned at the end of the season. Note that we do our best to accommodate each child's size, but we must work with the inventory we have.
